As a Community Connector, you'll play an key role in helping create a warm, welcoming and inclusive atmosphere at our monthly Community Lunch. This volunteer position is all about people. You'll spend time getting to know participants, starting conversations, introducing people with shared interests and helping everyone feel comfortable and included. Whether you're welcoming someone attending for the first time, encouraging a participant to join a conversation, or simply sharing a cup of tea and a chat, you'll help create an environment where friendships can flourish and everyone feels a genuine sense of belonging.

Working alongside staff and other volunteers, you'll support participants throughout the lunch by engaging in conversation, encouraging social interaction and helping people feel connected. You'll assist in creating a positive and respectful atmosphere, encourage participants to enjoy the tabletop games and social activities following lunch, and remain aware of anyone who may appear isolated, anxious or in need of additional support, notifying staff where appropriate. Your role is not to provide personal care or counselling,

but to be a friendly and approachable presence who helps make every participant feel seen, welcomed and valued.

The impact of this role extends far beyond sharing a meal. For many people, our Community Lunch may be one of the few prospects they have each month to connect with others, enjoy meaningful conversation and feel part of their community. By volunteering as a Community Connector, you'll help reduce loneliness and social isolation, encourage new friendships, strengthen community connections and create positive experiences that participants look forward to each month. A straightforward smile, a friendly conversation or an introduction to someone new can have a lasting impact on a person's wellbeing. If you enjoy meeting people, building relationships and making a genuine difference in the lives of others, this is an opportunity to help create a community where everyone feels welcome, included and connected.
