The Actuarial Analyst works closely with the Senior Actuary and assists the Underwriting Team with analysis and interpretation of numbers and reports. The Analyst is responsible for understanding, maintaining, and developing pricing models and the in-house Dashboard MI system.
Key Tasks And Responsibilities
Underwriting/Management Support
Provide ad‑hoc reports or data downloads.
Explain analytical reports to underwriters and management.
Assist with the continued evolution of data analytics capability within the product and pricing area to improve business performance.
Conduct monthly monitoring of portfolio performance reports and exception account monitoring.
Pricing Support
Develop and maintain benchmark models (exposure rating).
Provide support for large account pricing (experience rating).
Perform technical pricing analysis under the supervision of the pricing leader.
Reserving Support
Occasionally support the Senior Actuary in quarterly reserving.
Management Information Development / Maintenance
Develop portfolio analysis dashboard in PowerBI or StreamLit.
Provide dashboard training to users.
General Responsibilities
Collaborate effectively with other business units.
Adhere to the company’s policies, procedures and local guidance as well as to the legislation.
Perform other reasonable duties as directed by the business, within the scope of the role.
Role Requirements & Skills
Valuable knowledge and efficiency in the use of the Microsoft Office package; willingness to develop expertise in Excel (including VBA), SQL and Power BI, becoming proficient in Python, R, and Emblem.
Robust problem‑solving ability and inquisitiveness.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Personable and able to communicate clearly at all levels of the organisation.
Sound analytical skills with the ability to prioritise while maintaining attention to detail.
Qualifications
Actuarial bachelor’s degree or related studies.
Actuarial student or intending to take Actuarial exams.
Experience
Minimum 1–3 years of insurance/Actuarial experience.
Robust graduates will be considered.
