Hastings Deering is looking for an experienced Safety Advisor to join our Health, Safety & Sustainability division. This permanent, full time role (Monday to Friday) is based out of our Cairns office. Reporting to the Safety Manager, the primary responsibility is to coordinate all aspects of Health, Safety, Sustainability & Risk Management for Hastings Deering employees working within our operations teams.
Responsibilities
Provide expert advice and assistance to facilitate a secure working environment and ensure work practices comply with Company policy and recognised and legislated Work Health & Safety regulations and procedures.
Inspect and evaluate workplace environments, equipment or practices to ensure compliance.
Assist in the maintenance and optimisation of the Safety Management System in accordance with Hastings Deering and legislative requirements.
Facilitate Incident Cause Analysis Method (ICAM) investigations as required.
Coordinate incident investigation, reporting and corrective actions.
Ensure environmental policies and procedures are adhered to.
Develop and implement site‑specific safety strategies and initiatives.
Qualifications & Skills
Formal qualification(s) in Work Health and Safety (minimum Certificate IV in Workplace Health & Safety) HLTPAT005.
Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (desirable).
Minimum 3 years experience in a similar role.
Incident investigation and reporting experience.
Desirable: Specimen collection for drug of abuse testing.
