The Australian Federal Police Association (AFPA) represents the skilled, industrial, and welfare interests of the Australian Federal Police (AFP) employees. As an autonomous sub-branch of the Police Federation of Australia (PFA), the AFPA is a registered Trade Union operating under the Fair Work (Registered Organisations) Act 2009. The AFPA head office is located in Canberra ACT.
The AFPA is seeking to employ a suitably qualified and experienced Industrial Officer for a full-time position based in Canberra for an initial 12-month period, with the possibility of permanency. The position will complement our established and supportive Legal and Industrial team.
The ideal candidate will have:
Relevant tertiary qualifications
Preferred minimum one-year industry experience in an Industrial Relations, Human Resources, Workplace Health and Safety role, and/or Law.
A passion for advocacy and union values, as well as skills in case work, representation, problem solving, and research.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent personal organisation and ability to prioritise.
The ability to work as part of a team, and to develop skilled relationships.
