Location: Melbourne / Canberra / Brisbane, Australia Employment Type: Contract Security Clearance: Baseline / NV1 / NV2 (Mandatory) Role Overview: We are seeking an experienced Oracle DBA to manage, secure, and optimize Oracle database environments supporting mission-critical government systems.
The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in database administration, performance tuning, backup and recovery, and security compliance within cleared environments.
Key Responsibilities: Install, configure, and maintain Oracle database environments (11g/12c/19c) Manage database performance, tuning, and optimization Implement and maintain backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies (RMAN, Data Guard) Ensure database security, patching, and compliance with Australian Government standards Monitor database health, troubleshoot issues, and ensure high availability Support migrations, upgrades, and cloud integrations (OCI/AWS/Azure exposure preferred)



Collaborate with infrastructure, application, and security teams Maintain documentation and adhere to ITIL processes Key Skills & Experience: Oracle DBA experience Solid hands-on with Oracle RAC, ASM, Data Guard Experience in performance tuning and troubleshooting complex environments Knowledge of Linux/Unix systems Experience with automation/scripting (Shell, Python) Exposure to cloud platforms (Oracle Cloud preferred) Strong understanding of database security and compliance frameworks Mandatory Requirements: Active Australian Security Clearance (Baseline / NV1 / NV2) Australian Citizen (due to clearance requirements) Nice to Have: Experience in government or public sector projects Oracle certifications (OCP/OCA) Experience with DevOps tools and CI/CD pipelines
