A leading financial services organisation is seeking aCompliance Consultantto support its Enterprise & Operational Risk function, with a focus on enabling compliant delivery of product, customer, and regulatory initiatives across its Australian business.
This role will work closely with product, marketing, and operational teams to ensure regulatory obligations are embedded from design through to implementation, while balancing commercial objectives.
The engagement will also play a key role in managing regulatory incidents and advising on breach reporting obligations.
The consultant will be expected to operate as a trusted advisor to the business, providing pragmatic, commercially aware compliance guidance while maintaining strong regulatory discipline.
This is a12-month engagement, with the client based inMelbourne.
Key Responsibilities
Providecompliance advisoryacross product design, customer propositions, and operational processes to ensure regulatory obligations are embedded early and effectively
Partner with business stakeholders totranslate regulatory requirementsinto clear, practical implementation guidance
Review business initiatives, communications, and distribution approaches toidentify regulatory risks and recommend mitigation strategies
Influence decision-makingby balancing regulatory expectations with commercial outcomes
Provide oversight on customer communications, disclosures, and marketing materials to ensure compliance with regulatory standards
Assess regulatory incidents and determine reportabilityunder relevant regulatory regimes
Prepare regulatory notificationsand manage correspondence, including root cause analysis and remediation planning
Collaborate with Legal and other functions to ensure consistent and defensible regulatory positions
Your Background
5+ years' experience in compliance, risk, or legal advisory within financial services, ideally in consumer lending or credit cards
Strong understanding of Australian financial services regulation (eg. NCCPA, ASIC Act, Corporations Act) and ability to translate into practical business guidance
Proven experience supporting product and project teams to design compliant processes and controls
Demonstrated ability to balance regulatory risk with commercial outcomes in stakeholder environments
Solid stakeholder engagement and influencing capability, including the ability to challenge and align cross-functional teams
Experience managing regulatory incidents, including reportability assessments and remediation oversight
