The role
We are looking for a hands-on, organised, and people-focused On Job Trainer to join our team on a fixed-term basis through to the end of November ****.
Based on-site in Bowen, you will be the primary point of contact for all on-the-job training delivery, working closely with local supervisors and site management to ensure every employee is competent, compliant, and confident in their role from day one.
Reporting to the HR Manager, this role sits within our People & Culture team and contributes directly to Mulgowie's commitment to food safety, workplace health and safety, and operational excellence.
Your key responsibilities will include
Planning, scheduling, and delivering the employee induction programme for all new starters, covering organisational policies, food safety, WHS, and site-specific requirements
Adapting and maintaining site-specific versions of core work instructions, ensuring all references to local equipment, processes, and conditions are accurate and current
Delivering task-level on-the-job training to new and existing employees using localised work instructions, training checklists, and practical demonstration
Supporting local supervisors and team leaders in training delivery and briefing them on new or revised work instructions
Maintaining accurate training records and a site-level training register, and submitting documentation to the OJT Team Leader in a timely manner

Coordinating refresher training for critical tasks and identifying emerging training needs at the site
Acting as the local point of contact for all on-the-job training matters, liaising regularly with the OJT Team Leader and site management
To be successful in this position you will have
Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE***** or equivalent), or a genuine commitment to attaining this within an agreed timeframe
A minimum of two years' experience in a training delivery, operational, or supervisory role — preferably in agriculture, horticulture, or fresh produce packing
Demonstrated experience delivering structured inductions or on-the-job training in an operational or production environment
Practical experience working with and adapting operational documentation such as work instructions, SOPs, or job safety analyses
Sound understanding of WHS obligations and food safety requirements relevant to fresh produce or food manufacturing
Proven ability to work independently at a site with limited day-to-day supervision, showing initiative and explicit communication with a central team
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to engage effectively with a diverse, multicultural workforce
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and experience with document management or electronic filing systems
A patient, practical, and supportive approach to training — with a genuine commitment to helping employees succeed
