About The Opportunity
We are excited to be offering this new and dynamic opportunity for a Continuous Improvement Lead (HEW 9) within the People and Culture portfolio at Edith Cowan University. Reporting to the Program Manager, the successful candidate will play an instrumental role in supporting the Employee Pay Review Program in achieving its vision of driving long-term operational excellence, ensuring fair and lawful practices, and establishing a robust compliance culture across the University.
Key Responsibilities Include
Leading and guiding the Continuous Improvement Stream to identify, map, and optimise future-state payroll lifecycle processes that are compliant by design, technically sound, and integrated across University schools and centres.
Partnering with stakeholders to conduct root-cause analyses of systemic pay variances, embedding system guardrails, and defining legislative/technical requirements to eliminate institutional risk.
Providing leadership, direction,



and mentorship to a high-performing team of up to four direct reports (including Business Analysts and System Analyst), fostering a resilient and change-ready work environment.
Managing the continuous improvement roadmap and delivery schedules while maintaining governance frameworks, active RAID logs, and regular reporting.
Serving as the senior escalation point for process-engineering and systemic improvement issues, collaborating with Digital Services and program stakeholders to ensure changes are seamlessly adopted.
About You
Your proven success in leading continuous improvement, business process transformation, or pay compliance streams within a large, complex corporate or higher-education environment.
In-depth knowledge and technical expertise in payroll management, pay compliance, system configurations, and relevant legislative requirements (such as Fair Work legislation, awards, enterprise agreements, superannuation, and taxation).
Strong leadership and team-mentoring abilities, with a track record of guiding, empowering, and building resilience within high-performing technical and analytical teams through complex organisational change.
Your ability to persuade, influence, and build partnerships across diverse stakeholders and business units, shaping strategic conversations, negotiating outcomes, and managing political nuance.
Exceptional project management and problem-solving skills, including roadmap delivery, active risk management (RAID logs), setting governance standards, and resolving complex, ambiguous operational issues.
Relevant tertiary qualifications in Human Resources, Project Management, Business,



or a related discipline (or an equivalent combination of extensive skilled experience).
