SafetyCulture is a global technology company that is helping to transform workplaces around the world. After witnessing the tragedy of workplace incidents as a private investigator, SafetyCulture Founder Luke Anear recruited a team to help him develop a mobile solution for frontline workers. What we have created is a market‐leading workplace operations platform that helps give teams the knowledge, tools, and confidence they need to meet higher standards, work safely, and improve every day.
The role
This role owns the technical direction of how SafetyCulture handles identity, access control, and permissions at scale—to create a best‐in‐class capability. You'll drive architecture decisions that affect every team building on top of our platform, and set the bar for how we design and deliver security‐critical systems.
The tech stack
We use a modern technology stack including Swift, Kotlin, C++ (mobile), React.js (frontend), Golang, Node.js (backend), and AWS, Kafka, Kubernetes (infrastructure).
What you'll be doing
Own architecture and technical direction for role‐based access control, identity management, and permissions across the platform
Lead delivery of complex, cross‐cutting features—scoping, estimating, and shipping end‐to‐end
Raise the technical bar through code review, design critique, and deliberately building the people around you
Translate complex security trade‐offs for product partners and leadership
Surface problems others haven't noticed yet and drive them to resolution without waiting to be directed
Use AI‐assisted development tools fluently (Copilot,

Cursor, or equivalent) and help the team establish good practice around them
What you'll bring
Deep backend expertise with production experience designing access control systems (RBAC, OAuth 2.0, OIDC)
Comfort operating across service‐oriented architectures and at SaaS scale
A track record of owning delivery—not just contributing—and making smart effort vs impact calls
Ability to give honest feedback, receive it well, and invest in the people around you as much as your own output
Confidence moving forward without waiting for a perfect brief, always thinking about the customer behind every technical decision
Clear ability and desire to demonstrate SafetyCulture values (Think Customer, Open Honest Always, Better as a Team, Be Bold Bring Action)
Benefits & perks
Equity with high growth potential, and a competitive salary
Great food—our in‐house chefs serve breakfast, lunch and unlimited snacks for all dietary requirements
Complimentary coffee/tea, beer and wine on tap, a pool table, board games, and a book library
On‐site gym, EAP services, and generous parental leave policy
Quarterly celebrations and an annual ShipIt global offsite
Flexible working arrangements and support for skilled and personal training and development
Pet‐friendly workplace and community engagement opportunities
SafetyCulture is committed to building inclusive teams. We seek to create a sense of belonging for all candidates. We encourage reasonable adjustments throughout the recruitment process.
