About the Role
This is a hands‐on leadership role responsible for the safe, efficient and productive operation of our manufacturing facility. Reporting to the State Manager, the Operations Manager will lead our production teams across three shifts, ensuring production targets, quality standards and customer delivery expectations are consistently achieved. The successful candidate will be passionate about building high‐performing teams, implementing robust operational processes and driving continuous improvement initiatives that increase productivity, improve quality and expand manufacturing capacity.
Key Responsibilities
Lead, coach and develop production supervisors and manufacturing teams across three production shifts.
Ensure production schedules are executed safely, efficiently and on time to meet customer demand.
Drive a culture of accountability, teamwork, quality and continuous improvement throughout the manufacturing operation.
Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) and best‐practice production processes.
Identify opportunities to improve plant utilisation, production flow,
labour efficiency and operational capacity.
Monitor production performance through key operational KPIs including productivity, downtime, waste, quality and on‐time delivery.
Lead root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to minimise downtime and improve reliability.
Work closely with Planning, Sales, Maintenance and Warehouse teams to ensure smooth production scheduling and product availability.
Champion Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives to eliminate waste and improve operational performance.
Ensure compliance with all Workplace Health & Safety, environmental and quality standards.
Assist with workforce planning, recruitment, training and succession planning across production teams.
Support capital improvement projects and equipment upgrades that increase manufacturing capability and efficiency.
About You
You are a proven manufacturing leader who enjoys developing people, improving systems and achieving operational excellence. You thrive in a fast‐paced production environment and have a track record of delivering measurable improvements in productivity, quality and safety.
Minimum 3 years' experience in an Operations Manager, Production Manager or Manufacturing Manager role within steel manufacturing, roll‐forming or a similar industrial manufacturing environment.
Experience managing multiple production lines and supervising teams working across three shifts.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate, coach and hold teams accountable for performance.
Demonstrated experience implementing production systems, operational disciplines and continuous improvement initiatives.
Sound understanding of Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen and other operational improvement methodologies.
Strong analytical and problem‐solving skills with the ability to use production data to drive decision‐making.
Experience managing production planning, labour utilisation and manufacturing capacity.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive working relationships across all departments.
Commitment to maintaining a safe workplace and fostering a positive team culture.
A qualification in Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations Management or a related discipline will be highly regarded.
