The Senior Social Worker Bereavement Peer Mentor Program Lead delivers training to bereaved parents (Peer Mentors) who then provide mentorship to newly bereaved parents (Peer Mentees). This position is part of the CHQ Bereavement Service and works collaboratively with guidance provided by the CHQ Bereavement Coordinator.
About The Team
The Social Work and Welfare Department at QCH is a dedicated, multidisciplinary team committed to supporting the psychosocial well-being of children, young people, and their families. Operating 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, our department provides compassionate, trauma-informed, person-centred care across various clinical settings, including Acute, Medical, Oncology, Child Protection, CHQ at Home, and Post-Trauma services.
About The Role
In this role you will deliver quality outcomes for children, young people and families (Leader of Self) in accordance with the Children's Health Queensland Leadership Excellence Framework and the Queensland Public Service and the CHQ values . Your contribution will include:
Clinical Practice
Provide high level clinical knowledge and skill in the context of child death and family bereavement and understanding.
Demonstrate a high level of contemporary theoretical knowledge in relation to loss, grief and bereavement.
Support and promote identification of psychosocial acuity following the death of child or young person that integrates a model for responding to the child's death utilising a clinically informed bereavement pathway.
High level of ability in delivering care to families with compassion and the ability to companion families by walking alongside rather than leading or seeking to impose order or logic on their suffering.
Management
Utilise clinical and project management skills to deliver, monitor and review the program including qualitative and quantitative methods of evaluation.
Provide timely reports and summary data to the CHQ Bereavement Coordinator and Social Work Director regarding issues related to the implementation of the program, including progress and project reports, analysis and interpretation of data, and management of risks and issues.
