The Project Manager is responsible for delivering healthcare ICT projects focused on communications, paging, messaging, alarm notification and related technology platforms. This includes new implementations, upgrades, migrations, technology refreshes, infrastructure modernisation and lifecycle management. The role works closely with clinical, operational, technical and vendor stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and with minimal disruption to healthcare services while maintaining compliance, security and operational continuity.
Key Responsibilities
Project Delivery & Governance
Lead end-to-end delivery of healthcare communications projects from initiation through to transition to support.
Develop and manage project plans, schedules, budgets, RAID logs, governance reporting and implementation plans.
Coordinate multidisciplinary teams including clinical stakeholders, ICT, vendors, biomedical engineering, facilities and infrastructure teams.
Manage governance forums, decision making, change control, testing, cutover, hypercare and project closure.
Ensure solutions support clinical safety, operational continuity and long-term supportability.
Communications & Solution Delivery
Deliver projects involving paging, messaging, alarm notification, clinical communications and associated integrations.
Manage platform upgrades, technology refreshes, infrastructure replacement, migrations and operational enhancements.
Assess impacts to clinical workflows, integrations, devices, reporting and business continuity.
Coordinate functional, integration, regression and disaster recovery testing.
Ensure successful operational handover following implementation.
Stakeholder Management
Act as the primary project contact for customers, hospital executives, ICT teams, clinical stakeholders and vendors.
Facilitate workshops, requirements gathering, design reviews and implementation planning sessions.




Communicate project status, risks, impacts and recommendations clearly to technical and executive audiences.
Financial & Resource Management
Manage project budgets, forecasts, resource planning and vendor engagement.
Monitor scope, costs, commercial variations and delivery risks.
Coordinate internal and external resources to meet project timelines and operational requirements.
Risk, Compliance & Quality
Identify and manage project risks, issues and dependencies.
Ensure compliance with healthcare governance, privacy, security and change management requirements.
Manage implementation risks including service interruption, compatibility, rollback planning and production readiness.
Reporting & Documentation
Maintain high-quality project documentation including governance packs, project plans, test evidence, cutover plans and operational handover documentation.
Provide regular project reporting, executive updates and decision papers.
Ensure knowledge transfer and support documentation are completed before project closure.
Leadership & Continuous Improvement
Lead project teams with a solid focus on accountability and collaboration.
Mentor junior project staff where appropriate.
Contribute to continuous improvement of project methodologies, governance standards and implementation practices.
Skills & Experience Essential
Minimum 5 years' ICT project management experience within healthcare, hospital or other mission-critical environments.
Experience delivering communications, messaging, paging, infrastructure,



migration or technology refresh projects.
Strong understanding of healthcare communication workflows and operational environments.
Demonstrated experience managing complex stakeholder groups and vendors.
Strong project governance, financial management and risk management capability.
Excellent communication, facilitation and executive reporting skills.
Desirable
PMBOK, PRINCE2, PMP, Agile or ITIL certification.
Queensland Health, government or managed services experience.
Knowledge of messaging platforms, paging infrastructure, integration technologies (HL7, FHIR, APIs), Active Directory and mobile messaging.
Experience with software upgrades, infrastructure refreshes, cloud migrations and lifecycle management.
Understanding of service transition, release governance and operational readiness.

Candidate Profile
The Successful Candidate Will
Have delivered complex ICT projects within healthcare, government or other mission-critical environments.
Understand the importance of communications platforms in supporting patient safety and clinical operations.
Be experienced in managing both new implementations and platform upgrades.
Demonstrate strong governance, vendor management and executive communication skills.
Confidently manage discovery, planning, testing, cutover, transition and operational handover across multiple stakeholders.
