Job Title - PROG Principal Java/Bespoke Software Engineer Job ID - ******* Security Clearance: Baseline Clearance Length of Contract: 12 months The role closes on 9/08/2026 Location: ACT Job details Your responsibilities will include: Develop enterprise-grade software using Java and Oracle technologies Design data models, translate to physical data models and implement using Oracle Database Relational Mapping frameworks Produce and maintain detailed design artefacts technical specifications Perform and build Nexus software releases following established processes Provision of on-call services as part of a team roster (calls are rare one per year) Key duties and responsibilities Essential Skills Required Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Maven lifecycle management, Continuous Integration, Unit and System Integration testing.
Major database experience, including data modelling, stored procedures.
Oracle preferred.
Technical skills Qualifications and Experience: Robust commitment to software engineering processes and a proven ability to develop robust and maintainable software.
A proven ability to document technical processes.
Implement and maintain automated testing.
Provide feedback on implementation and design aspects as required from other areas.
Assist in the continuous improvement process by developing and enhancing procedures and produce documentation,



including detailed design documentation.
SFIA Skills Sought: The planning, designing, creation, amending, verification, testing and documentation of new and amended software components in order to deliver agreed value to stakeholders.
The identification, creation and application of agreed software development and security standards and processes.

PROG Level 4: Designs, codes, verifies, tests, documents, amends and refactors complex programs/scripts and integration software services.

Applies agreed standards and tools, to achieve well-engineered outcomes.
Participates in reviews of own work and leads reviews of colleagues' work.
