The department provides a wide range of learning and development support and services.
The department provides policy leadership, plans for the future of education in Victoria and leads key cross-sector collaboration.
The department plays an important system steward role by providing support, guidance, oversight and assurance across early childhood and school education systems, as well as directly providing school education and 50 new early learning centres.
About the Division
The Area-based regional operating model is designed to:
* connect between central government policy and the delivery of high quality services to Victorians
* drive outcomes across all stages of learning through expert advice and support
* connect with families, service providers, schools and communities
* lead, collaborate and partner at a local level to overcome social and economic challenges facing our communities, towns and cities
* deliver health, wellbeing and support services to children, young people and their families to assist them in their learning and development
* improve connectedness and transitions between important points in a child's life - such as between early childhood, kindergarten, school and tertiary education
* assist and support children and young people who are vulnerable, disengaged, and those with disabilities or challenging behaviour.
About the Role
The position focuses on supporting schools to implement the five elements in the School Guide to Attendance, ensuring school procedures and practices are aligned with department of education policy, guidance, and resources.
The position will work closely with Health Wellbeing Specialist Services branch,



and other colleagues to ensure schools can provide comprehensive wrap around service provision that supports student learning, engagement, inclusion and attendance.
The position requires strong knowledge of the School Guide to Attendance, and its five key elements for attendance, along with experience in providing sound advice and strategies for schools to support the improvement of attendance.
The successful applicant also has the delegated role to undertake the School Attendance Officer processes.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
* A Tertiary qualification in Education and/or Allied Health Services.
* Strong knowledge and understanding of DE policies.
* Experience working in a agile, high performing team in a large complex organisation.
* Demonstrated Capacity to make evidence-based decisions.
* Proven ability to effectively engage and build positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders at all levels through effective communication and exceptional negotiating abilities.
* Ability to interpret and convey DE policies to all stakeholders.
* Effective problem-solving capability to resolve or escalate operational service queries.
