This role is focused on developing engaging creative concepts for point of purchase (POP), pop-up activations, retail experiences, exhibitions and face-to-face customer engagement.
You'll take a client brief and transform it into strategically grounded creative ideas that not only look exceptional but are backed by clear thinking around customer behaviour, commercial outcomes and brand objectives.
You'll work closely with strategy, account management and production teams to develop innovative retail experiences that inspire customers while remaining commercially viable and true to brand.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities
Develop strategic creative concepts for retail environments, POP displays, pop-up activations, experiential marketing and face-to-face customer engagement.
Translate client briefs into compelling creative solutions supported by a clear strategic rationale—not simply aesthetic execution.
Develop creative territories and customer experience journeys that influence behaviour and drive engagement.
Present creative concepts confidently, articulating the thinking, customer insights and commercial benefits behind each idea.
Collaborate with strategy, account management and production teams to ensure creative solutions are achievable and impactful.
Work within established brand guidelines while identifying opportunities to innovate and elevate the customer experience.
Stay at the forefront of retail trends, shopper behaviour, experiential marketing, and emerging technologies to continually bring fresh thinking to client solutions.
Apply AI creative tools within Cheil's governance process to bring new thinking to client work.
Produce concept visuals, mood boards, presentation decks and creative scamps that effectively communicate ideas.
Guide creative direction throughout project delivery to ensure the original concept is maintained.
Contribute proactively to brainstorming sessions,



innovation workshops and agency thought leadership.
Support a collaborative, positive and idea-led creative culture.
Desired Skills and Experience
Qualifications and Experience
Tertiary qualification in Design, Visual Communication or related discipline.
8+ years' experience as an Art Director within an integrated, shopper marketing, experiential or retail agency.
Demonstrated experience developing retail activations, customer experiences or experiential campaigns.
Strong understanding of retail environments and customer decision-making at the point of purchase.
Experience presenting strategic creative concepts to clients and senior stakeholders.
Proven ability to balance creativity with commercial objectives and production realities.
Experience working across multiple brands while adhering to brand guidelines.
Advanced skills in Visual design, illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign and web/digital design
Strong understanding of communication and advertising industry

Strategic creative thinker with a passion for solving business challenges through design and customer experience.
Robust conceptual ability with exceptional storytelling and presentation skills.
Ability to justify creative recommendations using customer insight, behavioural thinking and strategic rationale.
Excellent understanding of retail design, shopper marketing and experiential engagement.
Working knowledge of AI creative tools in a live production pipeline.
Solid collaboration and stakeholder management skills.
High level of proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign.
