A career you can build - established Adelaide fire protection company, vehicle supplied, paid training, real progression.
Wet & Dry Fire Services is a family-owned Adelaide fire protection company with a strong commercial service portfolio.
We're expanding our maintenance team, and we're taking a wide view of who's right for it.
We're after a technically minded, methodical person who's good with their hands and good with people.
Fire industry experience is optional - preferred, but genuinely not necessary.
If you're already a Cert II-qualified fire tester, brilliant; you'll be paid accordingly from day one.
If you're a sharp career-changer from a trades-adjacent background, we'll train you from scratch, put you through your certification, and grow your pay as your skills grow.
What is a Fire Maintenance Technician?
Every commercial building in Australia is legally required to have its fire systems tested and serviced regularly - that's what our team does.
It's clean, technical, indoor work.
Most days you drive to a different building, run scheduled checks on fire alarms, sprinklers, hydrants, and emergency lights, then write up a service report.
Once trained, you work independently, manage your own day, and become the technical expert building managers rely on.
About the role
AS**** routine and non-routine servicing on fire detection, suppression, EWIS, hydrant, and hose reel systems
Fault diagnosis, defect reporting, and recommendations to clients
Battery, lamp, and minor consumable replacements during service visits
Working with our service coordinator to keep your run optimised
Building positive relationships with on-site facility managers
This role suits you if...
You're already an experienced/certified fire tester looking for a better home - OR
You're a technically savvy career-changer from a trades-adjacent field (auto mechanic, building services, plumber's mate, IT field tech, electrician's labourer, ex-defence, security technician, refrigeration assistant - anything hands-on)
You're handy, methodical, and pay attention to detail
You learn quickly and can work independently once trained
You're a positive communicator, written and verbal - service reports and building managers both matter
You want a real career in an essential, recession-proof industry, not seasonal or insecure work
What you must have
White Card (or willingness to obtain before start)
Reasonable physical fitness - ladder work, plant rooms, roofs
Right to work in Australia
(Experienced applicants) Certificate II in Fire Protection Inspection and Testing, or equivalent, and a strong working knowledge of AS****
What we teach you (if you're new to fire)
How fire detection, sprinkler, hydrant, hose,
emergency lighting, and EWIS systems work and how to test them
AS**** - the standard that governs all of it
How to write proper service reports and deal with clients on site
Plus the formal qualification - Cert II in Fire Protection Inspection and Testing, paid for and supported by us
What we offer - pay
Experienced / Cert II-qualified technicians: $40+ per hour, commensurate with experience
Career-changers requiring training: start below $40 (based on aptitude and any relevant experience), progressing above $40 as you build competency and complete your Cert II
Above-award rates either way, plus vehicle, super, and allowances
What else we offer
Fully maintained company vehicle (stocked with tools and consumables, once you're running solo)
Phone, tablet, and uniform supplied
Cert II paid for and supported (for trainees)
Mentorship - you work alongside our experienced testers for as long as it takes to be confident on your own
Real career path - tester to senior tester to lead/supervisor; our supervisors started on the tools
Established service portfolio - no cold-calling, no chasing work, the run is there
Family-owned - your supervisor and the owner know your name
Job security - essential industry, locked-in client base, growing business
Wet & Dry Fire Services is an equal opportunity employer.
We hire for attitude and aptitude.
Only candidates with the right to work in Australia will be considered.
