About the role
In this role you will be responsible for ensuring locomotives, rail cars, wagons, plant and infrastructure are repaired and maintained to the required standard of safety and reliability to ensure the effective running of freight services.
Conduct routine and corrective maintenance and fault repair in accordance with prescribed methods and best practice
Ensure all work is performed in accordance with Workplace Health and Safety requirements, legislative policies, and technical and operational specifications
Maintain records and associated documentation relating to asset condition, maintenance programs and costing systems
Report actual work performed against the scheduled work program
Progress the implementation and application of work procedures and practices to ensure quality improvement
About you
Electrical licence (mandatory)
Electrical trade qualification or equivalent (mandatory)
Locomotive and wagon experience desirable but not essential; training will be provided
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills




Demonstrated experience repairing and maintaining locomotives and rolling stock highly regarded
Strong fault finding and troubleshooting experience, with ability to interpret schematics and technical drawings
Knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations and instructions including the Workplace Health and Safety Act
Computer literate
Successful candidates will be required to undergo a category one rail medical, which includes drug and alcohol screening.
