Eleanor Duncan Aboriginal Services (EDAS), in partnershipwith The George Institute, is seeking an Aboriginal Research Assistant tosupport an exciting evaluation of the Eleanor Duncan Dental Service.
Thisunique service partnership aims to improve access to culturally safe dentalcare for Aboriginal community members on Darkinjung Country.This role offers a valuable opportunity to contribute tomeaningful research while building practical skills in community engagement,health services research, and evaluation.About the ProjectThe evaluation is a community-led initiative designed tobetter understand the outcomes, costs, and value of the Eleanor Duncan DentalService and identify opportunities for future improvement.
The project includesyarning circles, interviews, service utilisation analysis and economicevaluation, guided by an Aboriginal Community Reference Group to ensurecommunity voices remain at the centre of the work.About the RoleAs the Aboriginal Research Assistant, you will work closelywith EDAS, The George Institute, and community members to support the deliveryof evaluation activities.
You will assist with community engagement,participant recruitment, data collection, project administration, and thecoordination of research activities.This position has been designed to support Aboriginalresearch capacity building through mentorship,
training and hands-on experiencein community-led research and health evaluation.Key ResponsibilitiesSupportthe delivery of research and evaluation activities in partnership withEDAS and The George Institute.Buildand maintain culturally safe relationships with Aboriginal communitymembers and stakeholders.Assistwith participant recruitment using community-led and culturallyappropriate approaches.Coordinateand support yarning circles, interviews, focus groups and CommunityReference Group meetings.Prepareresearch materials and maintain project records.Assistwith data collection activities in line with approved research protocols.Preparemeeting notes, community feedback reports and project documentation.Participatein project and study team meetings and contribute to project outcomes.About YouWe are looking for someone who:Hasa strong understanding of Aboriginal health, wellbeing and the barriersAboriginal people may experience when accessing services.Hasexperience engaging with Aboriginal communities and building strongrelationships.Hasexperience working within community-based Aboriginal programs.Demonstrateseffective written communication and report writing skills.Possessessound problem-solving, organisation and negotiation skills.Hasbasic computer and administrative skills.Ismotivated to learn and develop skills in research and evaluation.Current Working with Children Check or Willing to obtainSatisfactory National Police checkNDIS worker Check or Willingness to obtainWhat We OfferOpportunityto contribute to a meaningful community-led research project.Mentorshipand professional development in Aboriginal health research.Hands-onexperience in evaluation, community engagement and health servicesresearch.Flexiblepart-time employment (0.5 FTE).
