The workshop provides comprehensive mechanical repairs, vehicle servicing, tyre and wheel alignment services, brake and suspension repairs, air conditioning servicing, log book servicing, and authorised Pink Slip and Blue Slip vehicle inspections for a wide range of passenger vehicles and light commercial vehicles.
The business services all vehicle makes and models using modern diagnostic equipment and qualified technicians to ensure vehicles operate safely, efficiently, and in accordance with manufacturer specifications.

The workshop's increasing customer demand and diverse range of mechanical services require experienced and skilled Motor Mechanics who can efficiently diagnose faults, perform complex repairs, and contribute to the ongoing operational success of the business.
About the Role
The Motor Mechanic (General) plays a critical technical role within the workshop and is responsible for diagnosing, servicing, repairing, and maintaining a broad range of motor vehicles.
The position supports the efficient operation of the workshop by ensuring all mechanical work is completed to manufacturer specifications, Australian safety standards, and industry best practices.
Key Responsibilities




Detect and diagnose faults in engines and mechanical components using diagnostic equipment and testing procedures
Dismantle and remove engine assemblies, transmissions, steering mechanisms, and other components for inspection
Inspect, assess, and check parts for faults, wear, and damage
Repair and replace worn or defective parts, including engines, transmissions, braking systems, suspension, and steering components
Reassemble engines and mechanical components after repair in accordance with manufacturer specifications
Perform scheduled maintenance services such as oil changes, lubrication, engine tune-ups, and servicing to ensure optimal performance and compliance with emissions and safety standards
Test and adjust mechanical parts after repair to ensure proper performance and functionality
Diagnose and test vehicle systems using computerised diagnostic tools and specialised equipment
Refer to and interpret service manuals and technical specifications when carrying out repairs
Inspect vehicles and identify required repairs to meet roadworthiness standards and safety requirements (where applicable)
Maintain accurate service records, repair documentation, and job cards
Ensure all work complies with workplace health and safety (WHS) regulations and environmental standards
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the workshop and tools




Communicate effectively with customers and team members regarding vehicle issues, repair requirements, and timelines

Qualification Requirements (ANZSCO Skill Level 3):
AQF Certificate III in Automotive Mechanical Technology (including relevant on-the-job training), or AQF Certificate IV in Automotive Mechanical Diagnosis or a related field, or at least three years of relevant work experience in lieu of formal qualifications Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Motor Mechanic (General) or in a similar automotive role Strong knowledge of petrol engines and light vehicle mechanical systems, including transmission, suspension, steering, and braking systems Demonstrated ability to diagnose faults using both manual techniques and computerised diagnostic equipment Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and manufacturer specifications Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced workshop environment Good communication and teamwork skills Ability to maintain accurate service records and documentation Commitment to workplace health and safety (WHS) standards and safe work practices Relevant trade certification and/or licensing may be required depending on state regulations
