This is a full-time position that plays a crucial role in our metal processing operations.
As a Band Saw Operator, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining band saw cutting equipment to process metal materials to precise specifications.
This position is essential to our production operations and directly impacts the quality and efficiency of our output.Key responsibilitiesOperate band saw equipment safely and efficiently, following all relevant safety protocols and proceduresRead and interpret technical drawings, blueprints and work specifications to ensure accurate cutting of metal materialsSet up and adjust band saw equipment, including blade tension, speed settings and cutting guidesMonitor cutting operations to maintain consistent quality and precision, ensuring materials meet specified dimensions and tolerancesPerform routine maintenance and cleaning of band saw equipment to ensure optimal performanceInspect finished cuts for quality and report any defects or equipment issues to supervisorsHandle and position metal materials safely,



using appropriate lifting techniques and equipment where necessaryMaintain accurate records of production activities and material usageCollaborate with team members to meet production targets and deadlinesComply with all workplace health and safety requirements and company policiesWhat we're looking forProven experience operating band saw equipment in a manufacturing or metal processing environmentDemonstrated ability to read technical drawings and understand specificationsStrong attention to detail with the ability to produce accurate, consistent resultsProficiency in performing routine equipment maintenance and troubleshooting minor issuesExcellent safety awareness and a commitment to maintaining workplace safety standardsPhysical capability to handle metal materials, including lifting and positioning heavy itemsStrong organisational and time management skillsThe ability to work independently and as part of a teamCurrent Construction Induction Training (White Card) or willingness to obtain oneRelevant trade qualifications or certification in metal fabrication or machine operation (preferred but not essential)What we offerAt Scott Metals, we believe in valuing our employees and supporting their professional development.
