5d ago , from Illawarra Mercury Job BoardJob Type: Permanent position | Full time positionJob Descriptionsuezwater Playing an integral role of SUEZ's multi-disciplinary Engineering and Construction engineering team, the Mechanical Engineer will provide mechanical design expertise, advice and technical inputs.
The position will produce, and be involved in the production of feasibility studies, options reports, basic and detailed design projects, and provide site engineering support during construction, and commissioning assistance.
The position will be responsible for co-ordinating with other engineering disciplines, managing engineers, design-drafters and external resources and sub consultants as required by project and/or organisational needs.Benefits Task & responsibilitiesThis role will require you take full ownership and accountability of the projects and tasks assigned, including understanding of the scope, inputs, outputs and key stakeholders, as well as maintaining effective relationships with team members working on the projects with you.
Your key responsibilities will include: Work as part of a multi-discipline engineering delivery team Participating in project planning and inter-disciplinary design coordination.Preparing technical detail to support bid submissions, contract documentation, technical literature or customer enquiries.
Review, evaluate and validate relevant design inputs and performance criteria.
Develop mechanical specifications for subcontractor quotations and tenders.Preparing both basic and detailed designs, with supporting calculations / appropriate documentation for development of drawings, specifications, and data sheets.
Reviewing plant,
equipment and design, including HAZOPs, Safety in Design reviews, Value Engineering reviews, Risk workshops, etc.
Provide all supporting schedules including equipment lists, lines lists, valves schedules, etc.Design of mechanical systems according to processes and plant control philosophy, ensuring drawings, design deliverables and technical submissions align with best practice and project specifications.
Participate in checking and approving vendor and subcontractor design, including attendance of Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) and Site Acceptance Test (SATs Supervision of staff and/or sub consultants or contractors undertaking the design/drafting of mechanical systems.
Coordinating suppliers, clients, Consultants and Commissioning Engineers regarding the design, installation, construction of projects.Qualification & experienceSupported by a few years of practical (ideally a mixture of design and site) experience in the construction of water treatment or process industry would set you up for success in this role.
Beyond your technical competency, you operate with a level of autonomy that allows you to make commercially driven,
astute decisions that provide the best outcomes for all parties and are confident participating in and eventually leading interdisciplinary teams.
Minimum of 3 years design and drafting experience in a project delivery setting, preferably in the Australian water industry or construction industry, including: Review of Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs;) Mechanical equipment and piping layouts and detail design Specification and selection of water and wastewater treatment process equipment, piping and valves, calculations and preparation of equipment data sheets Design and installation of mechanical equipment in hazardous areas Participation in Safety in Design, HAZOP/CHAZOP workshops Alignment to the core values of the E&C; engineering team as follows: Trustworthy – the team foundations are built trust and respect; Leadership – being able to see the product of a shared vision; Accountability – understanding and accepting the consequences of your actions; Mentoring – natural desire to impart knowledge and experiences.About CompanySUEZ, with 160 years of experience in water, waste, and recovery industries globally, is seeking to grow and develop its established business in Australia and New Zealand in the creation, operation, and management of major water infrastructure, with a focus on the circular economy.
