Our client, a well-established retail business based in Alexandria, is seeking an experienced Payroll Officer to join their team on a 6-month contract.
While the role is initially fixed-term, there is a strong likelihood it will move into a permanent position.This is a great opportunity for a payroll professional who enjoys a fast-paced retail environment and wants to be part of a business currently evolving its payroll processes.The role is full time based in their office – close to Green Square station.Key ResponsibilitiesEnd-to-end processing of weekly payroll for a workforce of approximately 500+ employeesSupport the transition project moving payroll from weekly to fortnightly cycle over the coming monthsEnsure accurate and timely payment of wages, deductions, and entitlementsMaintain payroll records and ensure compliance with relevant awards, legislation,



and internal policiesRespond to payroll-related queries from employees and managementAssist with reconciliations, reporting, and end-of-cycle processesLiaise with HR and Finance teams to ensure smooth payroll operationsAbout YouProven experience in a high-volume payroll role, ideally within retail or a similar rapid-paced environmentExperience managing weekly payroll cycles; exposure to payroll system transitions or process changes highly regardedStrong understanding of relevant payroll legislation, awards, and compliance requirementsHigh attention to detail and ability to manage competing deadlinesExcellent communication skills and a proactive, solutions-focused approachImmediately available or available at short notice preferredPreferred experience with Employment Hero payroll
