You'll work with advocates, equipping them with tools to ensure their voice is heard.
You will work with our established, respected Advocacy Team, that is seeking to expand and build upon our advocacy networks in new ways, with some focus on state governments.
Purpose of the Role
The Advocacy Coordinator will have a key role in Breakthrough T1D's Government Relations Team.
We want to see treatments, therapies and policies that impact people with type 1 diabetes.
To do this,
we need to take our advocacy community with us.
Be part of our dynamic strategy that puts people with type 1 diabetes at the heart of everything we do.
What you'll gain:

Key Responsibilities
You will work with the Advocacy Team to:
Support advocacy campaigns
Build and maintain advocate networks
Support meetings and engagement with MPs and departments
Coordinate advocate onboarding and engagement
Support meeting preparation, follow‐up, and tracking
Maintain advocacy databases or CRM records
Support campaign delivery timelines
You will engage directly with the type 1 diabetes community to help build well‐informed, focused advocacy networks to underpin relationship building with governments.
You will work collaboratively as part of a team.
You will also be part of a team that builds national and state focused networks of stakeholders.
Skills and Experience
The successful candidate will demonstrate a combination of effective communication skills,
good time management and demonstrate an interest in government relations.
Qualifications and Experience
Effective and persuasive communicator, you will be able to inspire confidence in our advocates, and build warm, engaged connections with parliamentary and departmental staff.
Project management skills that enable you to work on a campaign with multiple stakeholders
Qualifications and/or experience relevant to working and moving effectively between a government and a not‐for‐profit space
Some understanding of the health sector, including federal and state relations
Experience related to the chronic disease sector would be ideal, but not essential.
Skills and Capabilities
People‐person, you would be someone who enjoys working with people to give them the tools they need to make an impact
You will be someone who isn't afraid to roll up their sleeves and deliver on our goals
You will have a passion for working with the type 1 diabetes community and ensuring that their lived experience gets a voice
Teamwork – able to work collaboratively with a tightknit team as well with colleagues and stakeholders
You'll have opinions and not be afraid to advocate for them.
