Nexa Auto Imports
New South Wales
Nexa Automotive Imports is just getting started, and that's exactly what makes this opportunity so compelling.
We're a newly established automotive import business on a mission to bring world-class vehicles and a smarter, more connected supply chain to the Australian market.
Leading our line-up are QJMOTOR and VOGE, two exciting motorcycle brands we'll be importing and growing right across Australia.
We've got the vision, the backing, and the drive.
Now we're building the team to turn it into reality.
This isn't a role where you'll step into an established finance function and maintain the status quo.
This is a rare chance to build a finance operation from the ground up, to design the systems, set the standards, and become the financial voice of a business with serious growth ahead of it.
THE ROLE
Own the numbers.
Shape the strategy.
Build something that lasts.
As our Financial Controller, you will be the most senior finance person in the business, responsible for everything from day-to-day financial operations through to management reporting, compliance, and providing strategic financial insight to the leadership team.
In the early stages you will work closely with the GM and board, giving you real visibility and genuine influence over the direction of the business.
This is a hands-on role.
You will need to be as comfortable rolling up your sleeves on month-end close as you are presenting financial performance to stakeholders.
As we grow, so will this role, and so will your team.
What you'll be doing:
Own the end-to-end financial reporting cycle, monthly management accounts, P&L;, balance sheet,
and cash flow reporting to the board and shareholders
Establish and maintain robust financial controls, policies, and procedures from the ground up
Manage all compliance obligations, BAS, GST, FBT, payroll tax, income tax, and statutory reporting
Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and bank reconciliations
Develop and manage the annual budget and rolling forecasts, providing variance analysis and commentary
Support import/export financial operations including landed cost calculations, duty management, foreign currency, and freight cost allocation
Liaise with external accountants, auditors, banks, and regulatory bodies
Drive continuous improvement across finance processes and systems as the business scales
Provide commercial and financial analysis to support pricing, margin management, and strategic decision-making
Build and mentor the finance team as headcount grows
ABOUT YOU
You're not looking for just another Controller role.
You want to own something.
You're a senior finance professional who thrives in environments where you can make a real impact.
You're technically strong, commercially minded, and comfortable operating without a big team around you, at least for now.
You understand that in a start-up environment, no task is beneath you, and no challenge is too big.
You'll need:
CA, CPA, or CIMA qualified
Minimum 5 years' experience in a financial controller, senior accountant, or finance manager role
Demonstrated ability to manage the full financial reporting cycle end-to-end
Strong understanding of Australian tax compliance GST, BAS, payroll tax, FBT, and income tax
Experience implementing or improving financial systems, processes, and controls
Advanced Excel skills and proficiency in accounting software Oracle suite or similar
Clear, confident communication skills, you will be presenting to the board and interacting with external stakeholders regularly
A self-starter mindset, in a start-up environment, initiative and ownership are non-negotiable
Desirable but not essential:
Experience in automotive, import/export, freight, or international trade businesses
Exposure to foreign currency transactions, hedging, or multi-currency reporting
Experience building a finance function or team from scratch
Knowledge of customs duty structures and landed cost accounting
WHAT'S ON OFFER
This is more than a job, it's a chance to build something from the ground up.
A permanent, full-time senior role at the foundation of a genuinely exciting recent business
A seat at the leadership table from day one, your financial insight will shape business decisions
Real career development, as Nexa grows, this role grows with it
Direct access to the GM and board, no layers, no red tape
A collaborative culture where senior people are trusted to lead and given the autonomy to do great work
