Job Title: Cartage Coordinator / Transport AllocatorLocation: Erskine park or BanksmeadowWork Type: Full-Time, PermanentIndustry: Transport & Logistics / Freight OperationsAbout the CompanyThe company is an established transport and logistics provider operating across metro distribution, container drayage, and general freight management.
Supported by a modern fleet and an expanding client base, the business built its reputation on operational safety, service reliability, and efficiency across the supply chain.Key ResponsibilitiesFleet Allocation: Direct and schedule daily routes for company drivers and sub-contractors (rigid, semi, and sideloaders) to optimize vehicle utilization.Wharf & Terminal Operations: Coordinate container movements, VBS / 1-Stop slot bookings, and de-hire returns while managing queue times to prevent demurrage charges.Driver Management: Serve as the primary contact for drivers on the road- resolving real-time delays, re-routing around traffic, and managing operational updates.Client Communication: Provide proactive updates to key accounts regarding transit progress, delivery windows, and priority requests.Compliance: Ensure all operational run plans adhere strictly to Chain of Responsibility (CoR) requirements, heavy vehicle mass/dimension limits, and driver fatigue regulations.Administration & Systems:
Maintain clean data entry within the Transport Management System (TMS), manage consignment notes, and track Proof of Deliveries (PODs).
Required Skills & ExperienceIndustry Experience: A minimum of 2 years working as a Transport Allocator, Cartage Coordinator, or Dispatcher within metro distribution or container drayage.Systems Proficiency: Demonstrated experience using Transport Management Systems (TMS) and industry booking portals (e.g., 1-Stop / VBS, CargoWise).
Geographic Knowledge: Deep understanding of local industrial precincts, heavy vehicle routes, and metro freight corridors.Problem-Solving Ability: Proven track record of quick decision-making and adapting schedules under pressure when unexpected disruptions occur.Communication: Clear, confident communication skills when liaising with drivers, warehouse managers, and corporate clients.What the Role OffersCompetitive Package: A base salary of $80,000 - $85,000 + Super.Career Growth: Opportunities to advance into Senior Allocation, Fleet Operations, or Transport Management roles.Stable Workplace: A full-time, permanent position within a well-backed and growing logistics business.Strong Team Culture: A collaborative, grounded office environment where performance and initiative are recognized.
