Public Transport Services operates one of Australia's largest public transport enterprises to cater for the needs of the City's travelling public and commuters from surrounding areas.
Our Branch
The Engineering and Asset Management Branch is responsible for bus maintenance (both first-line at depots and second-line at Toowong Workshops), establishing and managing fleet maintenance policies, procuring fleet assets, maintaining electrical charging infrastructure, investigating incidents, managing non-bus assets and facilities, overseeing major projects, and coordinating IT requirements for the division.

Becoming an apprentice in Auto Manufacturing gives you access to a wide variety of skills that will make each day unique.
While your training may focus on Brisbane City Council buses, the knowledge and experience you gain are transferable across many sectors of the automotive industry.

This is what your working day will look like:
Use engineering drawings to remanufacture framework sections to damaged vehicles
Repair or replace damaged fibreglass areas and work with fibreglass moulds to produce new parts
Rebuild and retrim seats for vehicles
Use engineering drawings to manufacture sheet metal panels for vehicles
Operate guillotine, brake press and metal folding press
Conduct MIG, TIG and OXY welding on vehicles (attend accredited offsite welding training)
Fit mechanised equipment such as bus door assemblies and accessibility bus ramps
Install components like seats, handles, locks and hinges
Realign chassis and other body steelwork to specification
You don't need prior experience in the industry, but we want to hear from you if you:
