The role and what we are looking for
We're looking for an experienced Leading Hand to join our Urban Civil Construction team permanently based in Mackay, QLD.
You'll be leading a crew across a diverse mix of civil infrastructure and sports field construction works - earthworks, drainage, pavements, landscaping, and site works - and setting the standard for safety, quality, and productivity on site every day.
This is a hands-on leadership role.
You won't be watching from the sidelines - you'll be in the work with your crew, directing the day, solving problems as they come up, and making sure the job gets done right.

What we're looking for
Proven experience in a Leading Hand role on civil construction sites - you've held the position, not just filled in for it
Hands-on technical capability across civil works - earthworks, drainage, pavements, or sports field construction - and a willingness to get in and do the work alongside your crew
A genuine commitment to safety - you lead by example, every single day, and you hold your crew to the same standard
Solid crew management skills - you can direct, motivate,



and develop a diverse team and deal with issues early before they become problems
Ability to read site instructions and work plans and relay clearly to your crew
Current White Card (Construction Induction) - must be held prior to start
Valid drivers licence - essential for moving between sites across the Mackay region
Locally based in Mackay or genuinely ready to make the permanent move
Sports field or Civil construction experience
Traffic management accreditation
Plant tickets - skid steer, tractor, or similar
First Aid certificate
Experience coaching and developing less experienced crew members
