As our subject matter expert, you'll oversee end-to-end payroll processing while playing a pivotal role in the successful transition from Chris21 to Aurion, helping shape the future of payroll across the organisation.Reporting to the Payroll Manager, you'll ensure our payroll function operates with the highest levels of accuracy, compliance and service while providing technical leadership to the team and partnering closely with People & Culture, Finance and key business stakeholders.As Payroll Lead, you'll:Lead the delivery of accurate end-to-end payroll across fortnightly and monthly pay cyclesAct as the organisation's subject matter expert for Chris21 and payroll operationsSupport the migration from Chris21 to Aurion, including analysis of parallel pay runs, and implementation activitiesInterpret and apply Enterprise Agreements, Awards, Fair Work legislation, taxation and superannuation requirementsReview payroll reconciliations, journals and statutory reporting to ensure accuracy and compliancePrepare and lodge payroll tax, superannuation, Single Touch Payroll (STP),



WorkCover and other legislative reportingProvide expert advice and act as the escalation point for complex payroll enquiriesCoach and support Payroll Officers while promoting best practice across the teamIdentify opportunities to improve payroll processes, controls, reporting and employee experienceMaintain payroll procedures, documentation and payroll master data to support governance and complianceAbout YouYou'll be a highly experienced payroll professional who thrives in a complex environment and enjoys solving problems, improving processes and mentoring others.You'll also bring:Extensive hands-on experience with Chris21 (this is essential)Knowledge and understanding of Chris21 system configurationsDemonstrated experience managing end-to-end payroll in a medium to large Australian organisationExperience supporting payroll system implementations, upgrades or migrationsStrong knowledge of Australian payroll legislation, Fair Work requirements, taxation and superannuationProven experience interpreting Enterprise Agreements and AwardsAdvanced Excel skills, including reconciliations, reporting and data analysisExceptional attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skillsExcellent stakeholder engagement and communication skillsThe ability to manage competing priorities while consistently delivering accurate outcomesA Certificate IV in Payroll, Human Resources or Finance is desirable, along with relevant tertiary qualifications if applicable.Why you'll love working with us:People First Bank – our new brand – says exactly what we're all about: people.
