Role
We're looking for a Azure Data Engineer to join a leading Australian insurance organisation and play a key role in delivering and supporting enterprise-scale Azure data engineering solutions.
This is a highly hands-on technical role focused on building, enhancing, and supporting modern data pipelines on Azure.
You'll work across both BAU and project initiatives, solving complex data engineering challenges and ensuring reliable, scalable, and high-performing data solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain Azure Synapse Pipelines for enterprise data integration.
Develop and optimise PySpark code for large-scale data processing and transformation.
Build and support Azure Data Factory (ADF) pipelines for data ingestion and orchestration.
Develop and maintain robust ETL/ELT pipelines across multiple enterprise systems.
Work with Azure Data Lake Gen2, Azure SQL, and modern cloud data engineering technologies.
Troubleshoot, optimise, and support production data pipelines to ensure performance and reliability.
Improve pipeline performance, scalability, monitoring, and automation.
Collaborate with Data Engineers, Architects, DevOps teams, and business stakeholders to deliver high-quality data solutions.




Contribute to CI/CD and DevOps best practices within the Azure data platform.
Support BAU activities while delivering enhancements and project-based initiatives.
Essential Skills & Experience
Extensive hands-on experience with Azure Synapse Pipelines (mandatory).
Strong commercial experience writing and optimising PySpark code.
Proven experience developing solutions using Azure Data Factory (ADF).
Strong experience designing, building, and supporting ETL/ELT pipelines in Azure.
Experience with Azure Data Lake Gen2 and Azure SQL.
Strong SQL skills and experience optimising data processing workloads.
Experience troubleshooting production data engineering environments.
Understanding of CI/CD practices and Azure DevOps.
Solid problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
