The Appointment
An opportunity now exists for an experienced Finance Manager to join the management team in a site-based role in the Darling Downs region. The role will focus on forward-looking planning, cost tracking, forecasting, contract performance insight, procurement oversight, compliance, governance and outage analysis.
This is not a transactional finance role. Instead, it is suited to someone who enjoys being close to operations, interpreting commercial and financial data, and translating complex information into clear, practical insights.
Key Responsibilities
- Acting as a true business partner to operational leaders, providing commercial insight and financial discipline
- Providing site-based commercial support across critical operational, maintenance and outage-related contracts
- Monitoring contract performance, pricing mechanisms, KPIs, scope assumptions, incentives and penalties
- Providing early visibility of commercial risks, scope growth, budget pressures and cost impacts
- Supporting cost control, governance and improved financial frameworks across the site
- Partnering with finance and FP&A; teams to improve forecast quality, cost transparency and planning assumptions
- Supporting financial accounting, reporting, forecasting, project-based finance and broader company accounting requirements
About You
To be successful in this role, you will bring strong accounting foundations, commercial acumen,
advanced financial analysis capability and the ability to build credibility with both operational and corporate stakeholders. You will be confident working in a dynamic operational environment and comfortable interpreting financial information, operational data, contract performance, schedules and forecasts to support practical business decisions.
You will ideally bring
- 5–10 years’ relevant finance or accounting experience
- CA or CPA qualification, or equivalent professional capability
- Strong accounting background across financial accounting, reporting, forecasting, project finance or company accounting
- Finance business partnering experience, or the capability to operate in a true business partnering capacity
- Experience working in, or closely aligned to, heavy industry, mining, manufacturing, infrastructure, energy or another asset‑intensive environment
- Strong systems, process improvement and controls capability
- The ability to identify gaps and implement robust systems, processes and financial controls
- Advanced analytical capability, robust Excel skills and high attention to detail
- Governance, compliance and financial control experience
- Exposure to procurement oversight, contract performance and commercial arrangements
