LET’S EXPLORE THE ROLE As a Communications Engineer, you'll play a key role in maintaining and enhancing the NSW Public Safety Network (PSN), a critical communications platform relied upon by emergency services and frontline agencies every day.
Working within BAI's Critical Communications team, you'll provide specialist engineering support across Motorola P25 technology, network operations, fault investigation, system maintenance, change management, and continuous improvement initiatives.
You'll collaborate closely with operations teams, customers, vendors, and field technicians to ensure network reliability, performance, and service continuity.

Key Responsibilities: Provide engineering support and maintenance for the NSW Public Safety Network. Administer, manage and optimise Motorola P25 network technologies and associated management platforms. Investigate complex incidents, perform root cause analysis and drive fault resolution activities.
Support technical change management processes, including testing and validation of proposed network changes. Provide escalation support to Level 3 engineering teams and broader operational teams. Collaborate with customers, vendors and stakeholders to resolve service and network issues.
Deliver guidance, technical support and knowledge sharing to operational and field teams. Assist with system upgrades, minor project works, acceptance testing and network improvements. Support coverage investigations, site infrastructure issues and power system-related activities.
Participate in an on-call roster and provide after-hours support when required. Travel to network sites for testing, commissioning, fault rectification and operational support. LET’S HEAR ABOUT YOU You are a technically capable communications or telecommunications engineer who enjoys solving complex problems and working within critical operational environments.
You bring a customer-focused mindset, solid analytical skills and a passion for ensuring essential communications networks perform when they are needed most. Technical Skills & Experience Experience supporting mobile communications, critical communications or telecommunications networks.
Strong knowledge of Motorola P25 technology, network architecture and associated management tools such as UNC, Zone Watch, UEM, Provisioning Manager, CSS, SWDL and CPS. Understanding of communications protocols,



standards and interfaces that enable interoperability across network infrastructure and field devices.
Capability in system-level fault analysis, troubleshooting and root cause investigation. Working knowledge of DC power systems, batteries and supporting site infrastructure. Experience supporting change management, network maintenance and operational environments with high availability requirements.
Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to customers, stakeholders and operational teams. Strong planning, organisation and prioritisation skills with the ability to manage competing demands. To be successful, you'll also have: A degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, or equivalent qualification.
Experience within telecommunications, public safety, mission-critical communications or related industries. A current driver's licence. Willingness to travel when required. Australian Citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a Baseline Security Clearance.
