Position Details

THE ROLE

As a Solicitor in the Care leaver claims team, you will be required to, with minimal supervision, work independently and with other members of the team to provide timely legal advice and representation for key stakeholders that is strategic and practical. Your advice must be transparent, accurate and outcomes-focused.

Your legal work will focus on civil proceedings relating to alleged historical institutional abuse and personal injury matters and special projects to support strategic management of the portfolio. It will include advising on a broad range of legal issues, statutory interpretation and administrative law matters; and advising on the policy, practice and procedure to support strategic management of civil claims.

The role requires the exercise of sound judgment, initiative and the ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues across the department.

ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE

- Provide well-reasoned legal advice, briefings and correspondence.




- Collaborate with departmental colleagues to deliver client focused legal services.
- Instruct in litigation involving the department in a wide range of courts and tribunals.
