Charge Nurse Manager – Murchison Hospital and Health Centre About the Role We are looking for an adaptable and energetic experienced Charge Nurse Manager for a permanent 1FTE position located in a rural setting, Murchison. Primary responsibilities include leading a team delivering critical health services, managing 8‑hour shifts Monday to Friday (0700–1700), and participating in the on‑call PRIME roster.
The role requires PRIME certification; candidates with prior PRIME experience will receive support to update their qualification. Key duties: Lead nursing staff in emergency medical and accident services, general primary care, and elderly residential care. Coordinate staffing and resources, ensuring culturally appropriate and secure care delivery. Support quality improvement initiatives and lead process, policy, and guidelines development. Act as a clinical mentor and champion transformational leadership within the senior nursing team.
Qualifications & Experience Advanced clinical knowledge and expertise. Strong record of transformational leadership and effective change management.PRIME certification (desired); willingness to update qualification if eligible. Experience managing staff and coordinating resources in a pressured environment. Commitment to excellence in patient care and to family‑centred, culturally appropriate care. Location & Setting Murchison is a rural service town with a permanent population of approximately 1,100, located halfway between Nelson and Westport (1.5hours travel).
