- We are seeking a skilled and motivated RAM Engineer to join our team in Canberra.
- As a RAM (Reliability, Availability, and Maintainability) Engineer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability and performance of our systems and solutions.
- Your responsibilities will include analyzing system designs, identifying potential risks, and implementing strategies to optimize reliability and maintainability.
- You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the delivery of high-quality products and services.
- The ideal candidate should possess strong analytical skills, excellent problem-solving abilities, and a deep understanding of RAM principles and methodologies.

Deliverables
- Conduct reliability analysis and failure prediction assessments for vessel propulsion systems, mechanical systems, electrical systems, mission systems, and amphibious vehicle subsystems.
- Support vessel and mission readiness through the assessment and management of operational availability requirements and performance measures.
- Develop, maintain, and optimise reliability and availability models, considering maintenance strategies, spares provisioning, deployment cycles, and sustainment requirements.
- Define,
review, and refine maintenance concepts, including scheduled maintenance, corrective maintenance, repair times, maintenance intervals, and level of repair decisions.
- Support the development and continuous improvement of maintenance plans, sustainment strategies, and support concepts for operation in harsh and remote environments, including saltwater and corrosive conditions.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering and systems engineering teams to ensure reliability, maintainability, supportability, and whole-of-life cost considerations are incorporated into system design decisions.
- Integrate RAM requirements and analyses into vessel, vehicle, mission system, and combat system designs and associated engineering activities.
- Monitor and evaluate the in-service performance of landing craft fleets and amphibious logistics vehicles to identify reliability and availability trends.
- Conduct investigations into equipment failures and performance issues, identifying recurring failure modes, maintenance bottlenecks, and opportunities for improvement.
- Provide engineering recommendations and technical advice to improve fleet availability, mission readiness, sustainment effectiveness, and operational performance.
- Support engineering reviews, technical assessments, sustainment planning activities, and stakeholder engagement activities as required.
- Prepare and review RAM-related technical documentation, analyses, reports, and recommendations in accordance with applicable Defence engineering policies, standards, and program requirements.
SFIA Skills Sought:
The definition, analysis, planning, measurement, maintenance and improvement of all aspects of the availability of services, including the availability of power. The overall control and management of service availability to ensure that the level of service delivered in all services is matched to or exceeds the current and future agreed needs of the business, in a cost effective manner.
AVMT Level 4:
Contributes to the availability management process and its operation and performs defined availability management tasks. Analyses service and component availability, reliability, maintainability and serviceability. Ensures that services and components meet and continue to meet all of their agreed performance targets and service levels. Implements arrangements for disaster recovery and documents recovery procedures. Conducts testing of recovery procedures.
