Our client is a well-established civil contractor with a strong reputation for delivering infrastructure and civil projects across Queensland. Due to continued growth, they are looking to add an experienced Payroll Officer to their finance team based in North Brisbane.

This is a great opportunity to join a collaborative business where you'll take ownership of the payroll function while working closely with HR, Finance, and operational teams.

The Role

Reporting to the Finance Manager, your responsibilities will include:

- End-to-end payroll processing on a weekly and fortnightly basis
- Interpreting relevant Awards, Enterprise Agreements and Fair Work legislation
- Processing timesheets, overtime, allowances, penalties and leave entitlements
- Managing new starters, terminations and payroll adjustments
- Maintaining employee payroll records and ensuring data accuracy
- Processing superannuation, payroll tax and STP reporting
- Responding to payroll queries from employees and management
- Assisting with month-end payroll reconciliations and reporting
- Supporting continuous improvements to payroll processes and systems





About You

To be successful, you will have:

- Previous end-to-end payroll experience within construction, civil, engineering or a similar project-based environment
- Solid understanding of Awards, Enterprise Agreements and payroll legislation
- High attention to detail with excellent organisational skills
- Experience using payroll systems such as Employment Hero, MicrOpay, Chris21, MYOB, SAP, Pronto or similar
- Intermediate Excel skills
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across the business
