Our client, an established and highly regarded civil construction and infrastructure organisation is seeking a skilled and motivated Mechanical Fitter, ideally with some heavy diesel experience, to join its Maintenance Team on a permanent full-time basis. Operating across Tasmania, the business delivers a wide range of services within civil construction, road maintenance, surfacing, and manufacturing operations.
Based in Glenorchy and reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, you will play a key role in maintaining and servicing a diverse fleet of equipment and machinery to ensure optimal operational performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct diagnostics, preventative maintenance, and repairs across a diverse fleet including fixed and mobile plant, specialised road surfacing equipment, and heavy haulage vehicles.
- Assist with the planning and delivery of scheduled shutdowns and planned maintenance activities.
- Respond promptly to breakdowns and unplanned maintenance requirements.
- Contribute to maintaining a safe and efficient workplace by adhering to company policies and procedures
This opportunity is ideal for a tradesperson who enjoys variety in their day-to-day work and values being part of a supportive and collaborative team. The role includes a reasonable on-call requirement, with after-hours support provided on a rostered basis as required.
About You
To be successful in this role,
you will possess:
- Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade (or equivalent).
- Experience in general welding processes (desirable).
- Ability to accurately interpret technical drawings.
- Current Driver's Licence (Heavy Vehicle Licence highly regarded).
- White Card.
- Current Confined Space, Working at Heights and First Aid certifications, or willingness to obtain them.
- Robust attention to detail and commitment to safe work practices.
- A proactive, solutions-focused approach and the ability to work effectively within a team environment.
