Robinson Voss Partners
Mount Eliza
Robinson Voss Partners keeps a lot of moving parts running smoothly — meetings, boards, numbers and deadlines. We're looking for the person who owns that rhythm, and the process underneath it, so the rest of the team can get on with the work they were hired to do.
About us
Robinson Voss Partners is a boutique accounting and business advisory firm on the Mornington Peninsula, founded in 2014 by Craig Robinson and Sue Voss — both practising CPAs and business owners themselves. We are not a transactional tax shop. We work as a strategic partner to business owners at pivotal stages of their business and personal lives, across business advice, tax strategy, asset protection and superannuation.
We are a team of around fifteen. The firm runs on a steady rhythm of meetings, boards, numbers and deadlines — and the Practice Manager owns that rhythm.
The role
The Practice Manager keeps the firm running so that everybody else can get on with the work they were hired to do. You own the rhythm of the place — the meetings, the boards, the numbers and the deadlines — and you own the process that sits underneath all of it.
It is a role of two halves. One half is operational: work moving, lodgements met, invoices out, debtors followed up, compliance done and documented. The other half is people: helping the team work well, clearing the things that get in their way, and making sure everybody knows what is expected of them and why.
You are not here to do everyone else's job. You are here to make sure the job can be done — and to notice early when it can't.
What you'll own
- Workflow & capacity — spot the bottleneck before it forms and help the team move work around it
- Billing, debtors & WIP — keep the money moving and nothing ageing past 30 days without a reason
- Lodgements & compliance — every lodgement on time; AML/CTF checks and reporting evidenced as you go
- Numbers & reporting — KPI tracker, billings and business reporting — accurate, on time, and used to make decisions
- Systems, subscriptions & facilities — FYI, XPM, Xero, Ignition and more; software spend to budget, and contractors handled when something breaks
- Partner projects — scope and organise the firm’s projects, then manage the responsible people to keep each one on track
- The firm's rhythm & people — run the meeting cadence, onboard new starters, and be first port of call when someone's stuck
Who you are
This role is far more about how you show up than what you already know — the systems can be taught in a month. You're upbeat, curious, and much more interested in fixing the process than finding the culprit. You listen for what sits underneath, communicate simply and often, and would rather lend a hand than stand over someone's shoulder. You know the numbers and use them, and you direct rather than dictate — because a process the team builds gets followed, while one that's imposed gets worked around. Experience in an accounting or professional-services practice is a real plus — and exposure to XPM, FYI, Xero, Ignition or AML/CTF work will help — but the temperament matters most.
Why you'll like it here
- The best bunch of people you'll work with — a genuine team who back each other, don't take themselves too seriously, and make the day something to actually enjoy
- Real ownership of how the firm runs — scope to improve systems, not just maintain them
- Supportive, team-oriented leadership where your work is visible and valued, with hands-on directors
- A boutique firm close to home on the Peninsula — success looks like the place running for a week while you're on leave, no fires when you're back
