About this role

We are seeking dedicated, emotionally mature and experienced Disability Support Workers to provide 1:1 support to a warm and engaging 26-year-old woman living in her own home. She is an NDIS participant living with psychosocial disability, autism spectrum disorder, intellectual disability, epilepsy and a vision impairment. She thrives on routine, consistency and genuine relationships with her support team. This is a high-support role. The participant requires supervision at all times for her safety, and support across most activities of daily living, community access, medication management and emotional regulation. You will work closely with her family and her clinical team.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide 1:1 support and continuous supervision across day and evening depending on the rostered shift hours.

- Support the participant with personal care, meal preparation, household tasks and daily routines using visual schedules, simple one- to two-step prompts and frequent redirection

- Administer and monitor a complex medication schedule (including antiepileptic, antipsychotic and mood-stabilising medications), document administration and report any concerns

- Implement her Positive Behaviour Support Plan, including de-escalation, crisis prevention and trauma-informed strategies for managing emotional dysregulation, self-harm risk and behaviours of concern

- Facilitate community access: plan and provide all transport, accompany her to appointments, therapies (e.g. horse therapy), recreation and social activities, and provide navigation, transaction and social coaching support

- Provide real-time social guidance and safeguard the participant from exploitation in community settings

- Maintain accurate shift notes, incident reports and medication records, and communicate daily with family and the support coordination/clinical team

- Respond calmly and effectively to medical, behavioural or safety emergencies, including coordinating with emergency services and family





Essential Criteria

Applicants must hold, or be willing to obtain prior to commencement:

- NDIS Worker Screening Check (valid clearance)

- Working With Children Check (WA) – the participant has contact with young children

- Completion of the NDIS Worker Orientation Module ("Quality, Safety and You") certificate

- Current First Aid (HLTAID011) and CPR (HLTAID009) certificates

- Current WA C-class driver's licence and a reliable, comprehensively insured vehicle

- Certificate III or IV in Individual Support (Disability), Mental Health, or equivalent qualification/experience

- Demonstrated experience supporting participants with complex needs, including autism spectrum disorder, intellectual disability and/or psychosocial disability

- Medication administration training

- Epilepsy and emergency management training

- Demonstrated understanding of, and commitment to, the NDIS Code of Conduct and NDIS Practice Standards

- Experience implementing Positive Behaviour Support Plans

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including clear, concise progress-note and incident documentation

- Emotional maturity, resilience and the ability to remain calm and consistent during behavioural escalation or crisis

- Full Australian working rights

Highly Desirable

- Training or experience in mental health crisis intervention and suicide/self-harm risk response (e.g. ASIST, Mental Health First Aid)

- Experience with trauma-informed care and supporting people with PTSD and/or borderline personality disorder

- Experience supporting people with sensory needs and vision impairment

- Manual handling training

- Availability for shifts and a consistent roster
