The role

The Senior Legal Counsel provides expert legal advice and guidance across Gippsland Water to support informed decision-making, effective risk management and compliance with legislative and regulatory obligations.

The role works across a diverse range of legal matters, including property, environmental, commercial and litigation matters, delivering practical and commercially-focused solutions that support the organisation's strategic objectives and the delivery of essential services to the community.

What you’ll bring

- Bachelor of Laws or Juris Doctor and admission to practice law in Victoria with a minimum of five years post-admission legal experience.

- Strong experience in property, administrative,



commercial and contract law.

- Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply legislation, regulations and contractual obligations.

- Excellent analytical, proactive problem-solving and decision-making skills.

- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.

- Highly developed stakeholder engagement and relationship management capabilities.

- Strong negotiation and dispute resolution skills.

- The ability to work autonomously, manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
