The Advanced Scope Pharmacy Assistant – Patient Flow provides advanced clinical support services within the Pharmacy Department at the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital. Working under the supervision of pharmacists, the role contributes to the delivery of safe, efficient and patient-focused pharmacy services that support medication management, patient flow and positive healthcare outcomes.
The successful candidate will coordinate medicine supply activities, undertake advanced clinical support tasks and assist pharmacists with medication management processes throughout a patient's hospital journey. The role also serves as a senior member of the Pharmacy Assistant team, supporting workforce capability, quality improvement initiatives and the effective delivery of pharmacy services across the organisation.
About you
Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:
- Support pharmacists by coordinating medicine supply activities and assisting with medication management processes for admitted and discharged patients.
- Obtain medication histories and relevant clinical information to support pharmacist assessment, medication reconciliation and prescribing activities.
- Contribute to discharge medication management, including preparation of documentation, medicine supply coordination and liaison with healthcare providers.
- Provide leadership,
mentoring and support to Pharmacy Assistants while contributing to workforce development and team capability.
- Participate in quality improvement, inventory management and operational pharmacy activities that support protected, efficient and patient-centred service delivery.
