HB Group is currently recruiting on behalf of a State Government organisation for multiple Field Assistant positions to join the National Fire Ant Eradication Program, based at the Virginia Depot, commencing Friday, 28th August 2026.

Position Details

- Employment Type: Ongoing contract – no end date
- Start Date: Friday, 28th August 2026
- Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday (76-hour fortnight)
- Start Time: Between 6:30 am and 7:00 am
- Finish Time: Approximately 3:30 pm to 4:00 pm
Please note: This is a full-time position, and start and finish times are not versatile.

About the Role
As a Field Assistant, you will play an important role in the surveillance,
treatment and eradication of Fire Ants throughout the Virginia region.
Working as part of a dedicated field team, you will travel to various locations each day to conduct inspections, apply treatments, and accurately record information using mobile technology.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive to site locations (up to one hour from the depot)
- Conduct visual surveillance and bait treatments
- Collect accurate field data using a tablet
- Complete daily reports and maintain accurate records
- Work safely and effectively in a range of outdoor environments
- Contribute to the successful delivery of the National Fire Ant Eradication Program
About You To be successful in this role, you will have:
- A current Australian Open C-Class Driver Licence
- The ability to work effectively within a team
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- Customer service experience (desirable)
- A high level of physical fitness, with the ability to walk 10–15 km per day across varying terrain
- The ability to pass a Drug and Alcohol Assessment
- The ability to obtain and pass a National Police Check
