Yarrabilba Mower Centre is seeking a skilled and dedicated Small Engine Mechanic to join our team on a full-time basis in Yarrabilba, QLD. This is a hands-on technical position where you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining small engines used in lawn mowers, chainsaws, generators, and other equipment. Your expertise will be crucial in ensuring our customers receive reliable service and maintain their equipment in optimal working condition. This role is central to our business operations and customer satisfaction.
Key responsibilities
- Diagnose faults and perform repairs on small engines from various manufacturers
- Conduct routine maintenance tasks including servicing, filter changes, spark plug replacements, and fuel system cleaning
- Disassemble, inspect, and reassemble engine components with precision and care
- Test repaired equipment to ensure proper functionality and safety standards
- Maintain accurate service records and documentation for all repairs completed
- Communicate effectively with customers to explain issues and recommended solutions
- Order and manage parts inventory as needed for repairs and maintenance
- Adhere to health and safety regulations and maintain a clean, organised workshop environment
- Provide technical support and advice to customers regarding equipment maintenance and care
What we're looking for
- Proven experience working as a Small Engine Mechanic or in a similar technical role within the trades and services industry
- Sound knowledge of small engine principles, including two-stroke and four-stroke engines
- Competency in using diagnostic tools, hand tools, and workshop equipment safely and effectively
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and resolve mechanical faults efficiently
- Attention to detail and commitment to delivering quality workmanship
- Excellent communication skills and a customer-focused approach
- Reliability and punctuality with a professional attitude
- Physical capability to perform manual work, including lifting and repetitive tasks
- Relevant qualifications or certifications in small engine repair or mechanical trades (preferred)
- Valid driver's licence (preferred)
