About the role:

The Manager, Information and Emerging Technology leads the team responsible for the department's information management capability and the responsible adoption of emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence. The role integrates two critical functions: information governance and enablement, and AI and emerging technology strategy, ensuring they operate as a connected capability where sound information practices provide the foundation for responsible technology adoption.

The role operates within a shared services model, providing information management and emerging technology services to both the Department of Health and the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing (DFFH). This includes active engagement with DFFH to understand needs, shape priorities and ensure governance and guidance supports their operational and strategic requirements.

Reporting to the Director, Strategy, Architecture and Planning, the Manager sets the strategic direction and work program for their team, manages resourcing and priorities, and provides authoritative advice to senior leaders across the organisation on information, data governance and emerging technology matters.

Working closely with leaders in enterprise architecture, strategic business advisory, solution design and cybersecurity, the Manager ensures information and emerging technology considerations are embedded across the demand, design and delivery lifecycle. The role acts as the connective layer between operational information management practices and strategic AI and technology adoption, ensuring both are aligned to enterprise direction and departmental priorities.
