About the role
The Occupational Therapist delivers high-quality, evidence-based occupational therapy services to people experiencing severe and complex mental health conditions within Metro North Mental Health's Community Mental Health service. Working as part of an integrated multidisciplinary team, the role provides assessment, intervention and recovery-focused care that supports consumers, families and carers to achieve meaningful functional and therapeutic outcomes.
The successful candidate will manage a clinical caseload within a trauma-informed recovery framework, providing occupational therapy assessment, formulation and intervention across areas including occupational functioning, functional cognition and sensory modulation. The role also contributes to service improvement initiatives, student supervision and the ongoing development of contemporary mental health practice.
About you
Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:
- Deliver evidence-based occupational therapy assessment, intervention and therapeutic programs for consumers experiencing severe and complex mental health conditions.
- Apply occupation-based models of practice within a trauma-informed recovery framework to support consumer goals, functional outcomes and community participation.
- Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to contribute to treatment planning, discharge planning and coordinated service delivery.
- Develop effective relationships with consumers, carers, community agencies and healthcare providers to support continuity of care and advocacy outcomes.
- Participate in quality improvement, clinical supervision, professional development and student education activities that support excellence in mental health practice.
