Golden North is looking for a Food Technologist to join our Innovation team. You will be the scientific backbone that keeps our ice cream scoopable and our cheese maturing to perfection — delivering joy, one mouthful at a time.

The Role
Reporting to the Innovation Lead, you will be the hands-on expert who conducts trials and perfects recipes. Every recipe change is backed by solid data and rigorous process. You’ll move comfortably between the office, laboratory and factory floor environments.

Key responsibilities include:

- Prepare and test trial batches, meticulously documenting every variable from viscosity to pH levels.

- Lead internal sensory tasting panels to ensure flavour profiles and product qualities meet Golden North brand standards.

- Oversee R&D; laboratory equipment at Murray Bridge, ensuring calibration, hygiene and readiness standards are met.

- Create clear, detailed recipe “cook books” and process documentation for the Murray Bridge Processing team to follow.

- Complete structured transition training (including shadowing at the Laura site) to master legacy processes ahead of the full Murray Bridge move.

What Success Looks Like

- 100% of trial batches documented with complete, accurate data sets.





- Zero recipe failures when moving from laboratory trial to full-scale production at Murray Bridge.

- Consistently positive feedback from the Production team on the clarity and usability of process documentation.

- All laboratory equipment maintained to required calibration and hygiene standards.

About You

Essentials

- Tertiary qualification in Food Science or a closely related discipline with a solid foundation in microbiology and chemistry.

- Strong mathematical aptitude for accurate recipe scaling and ingredient ratio calculations.

- Exceptional attention to detail and precision in data recording to ensure reproducible quality.

- Hands-on “maker” mentality – comfortable moving between office, laboratory and factory floor environments.

- Respect for process and a genuine commitment to working as ONE team.

Desirable

- Previous experience in dairy, ice cream or cheese product development.

- Familiarity with sensory evaluation techniques and basic statistical analysis of trial data.
