Anglicare Southern Queensland is proud to deliver the new Staying on Track Program in a number of regions including, Brisbane South, Brisbane North, Sunshine Coast, Ipswich / Inala and Toowoomba. The Staying on Track Programs are part of the Queensland Government's Making Queensland Protected plan funded by the Qld Department of Youth Justice and Victim Support.

The Staying on Track Program supports young people transitioning from detention back into the community, with the aim of improving community safety and reducing reoffending. Working in partnership with the Department of Youth Justice, the program provides tailored, strengths-based support that responds to each young person's assessed risks and needs, helping them engage with education, employment, training and community life.

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Practitioner to join our Youth Justice team on a permanent full-time basis. Positions are available in Ipswich and Toowoomba.

The position reports directly to the Service Manager and would work closely alongside the Coordinator. This role provides specialist practice leadership across the Staying on Track Program. The role supports practitioners managing complex Youth Justice matters by providing case consultation, mentoring and guidance to ensure practice is trauma-informed, culturally responsive and evidence based.

The role also supports continuous improvement across the program through reflective practice, quality assurance, compliance oversight and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.

This position involves regular outreach across the community, youth detention centres, watchhouses and courts, with travel required throughout the service area.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

- Provide specialist practice leadership, case consultation and mentoring to practitioners managing complex Youth Justice matters.
- Support high-quality, trauma-informed and culturally responsive case management and intervention planning.




- Lead reflective practice, case reviews and debriefs to strengthen practice capability and service quality.
- Build collaborative relationships with Youth Justice, courts, detention centres and other key stakeholders to support coordinated outcomes.
- Monitor case quality, documentation and compliance with legislative, contractual and organisational requirements.
- Contribute to quality improvement, reporting and the ongoing development of the Staying on Track Program.

Qualifications, Credentials and Other Requirements

Applicants must have:

- A tertiary qualification in Human Services, Social Work, Psychology, Criminology or a related discipline.
- Current Queensland Blue Card.
- Current Queensland Driver Licence.
- A minimum of four years' experience in Youth Justice or a related field, including demonstrated experience managing complex cases.
- Sound knowledge of youth development, trauma-informed practice and evidence-based approaches within Youth Justice.
- Capacity to travel throughout the service area and work flexibly to meet operational requirements.

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

- Experience providing practice leadership, mentoring and support to practitioners working with complex clients.
- Strong knowledge of Youth Justice practice, risk assessment and case management.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships with young people, families and partner agencies.
- Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make sound practice decisions in complex situations.
- A commitment to trauma-informed,



culturally safe and strengths-based practice.
- The ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team while contributing to a culture of continuous learning and improvement
