Mine Development Performance Specialist | Underground Mining Operations | South Australia
We are supporting a major underground mining operation in South Australia that is launching a high-priority performance improvement program focused on increasing mine development advance and reducing development unit costs across multiple sites.
To support this initiative, we are seeking an experienced professional who can work alongside operational teams to identify constraints, improve execution, and deliver measurable productivity improvements.
This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in a business-critical program while working closely with frontline leaders and crews in a dynamic underground mining environment.
The Opportunity
As a Mine Development Performance Specialist, you will work directly with operational and technical teams to improve development performance outcomes across several underground operations.
You will be responsible for identifying opportunities, solving complex operational challenges, and driving practical improvement initiatives that deliver sustainable results.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with site leadership, supervisors and crews to improve mine development performance.
- Identify operational bottlenecks and productivity constraints.
- Facilitate structured problem-solving and support implementation of improvement initiatives.
- Analyse operational performance data and translate insights into actions.
- Support capability development within operational teams to sustain improvements.
- Build robust relationships across multiple stakeholder groups and functions.
- Contribute to the successful delivery of a high-impact operational improvement program.
About You
- Experience delivering operational improvement, performance enhancement, or transformation initiatives within asset-intensive industries.
- Strong track record of achieving outcomes in complex operational environments.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to identify root causes and critical constraints within systems and processes.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capability combined with a hands-on approach.
Highly Regarded
- Experience in underground mining, particularly mine development.
- Understanding of mine development productivity and cost drivers.
- Exposure to continuous improvement, Lean, Six Sigma, operating systems, Theory of Constraints, or similar methodologies.
- Previous experience within large mining organisations.
Contract Details
- Initial six-month contract engagement (strong potential of extension for a further six-months)
- Site-based position with travel to underground mining operations in South Australia.
- Rosters available including 5/2 4/3 and 8/6 arrangements.
- Opportunity to work on a strategically important performance improvement program with significant operational visibility.
