We are seeking a Deputy Principal for a temporary full-time position until 28 August 2026, unless otherwise determined. The Deputy Principal is a key member of the Chinchilla State School Leadership Team and works collaboratively with the Principal and Deputy PrincipalEngagement to provide strategic and operational leadership that improves student outcomes and strengthens the culture of the school. The role has a strong focus on leading the school's Reading Improvement Agenda while fostering a safe, inclusive and high-performing learningenvironment where every student feels they belong, engages in learning and achieves success.

This temporary vacancy is open to Expressions of Interest and any extensions to this appointment will not exceed 12 months.

About Us:

Chinchilla is located approximately 3 and 1/2 hours from Brisbane and services a community that has undergone significant change during the past 3 - 8 years. Chinchilla was traditionally a rural community, focused on cattle grazing and crops.

ChinchillaStateSchoolcontinuestoexperiencesignificantenrolment growth and a marked increase in the transience of families within the community. Chinchilla State School's diversity is evident across a range of social, economic and cultural aspects.

Approximately 20% of the population identify as Indigenous and the school has a small but growing number of English as a Second Language students.

Chinchilla State School has a current enrolment of approximately 600 students from Prep to year6.



A special Education Unit known as the Adjusted Curriculum Extension and Support Unit (ACES) caters for a wide range of special needs and disabilities.

About the Role:

The Deputy Principal leads strategic initiatives aligned with the school's Annual Implementation Plan (AIP), supports high-quality teaching and learning, develops staff capability and ensures effective operational systems that enable the successful day-to-day running of the school.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to;

- Lead the implementation of the school's Reading Improvement Strategy.
- Lead the implementation of whole-school strategies that strengthen positive culture, connectedness and student belonging.
- Provide strategic leadership for student behaviour management in accordance with departmental policy and the school's Student Code of Conduct.
- Lead student enrolment and Prep transition processes ensuring a welcoming and effective experience for new families.
- Coordinate daily staffing arrangements, including teacher replacement and relief staffing.
- Develop and maintain whole-school timetables that maximise curriculum delivery and effective use of staffing resources.
