We are seeking an experienced Truck Fleet Maintenance Mechanic to join our team at our Mareeba depot. This role is ideal for someone with practical mechanical experience who can keep a busy fleet moving by tackling day to day issues, identifying faults early, addressing driver fault reports ensuring vehicles remain protected and operational. Major repairs are outsourced to specialist workshops — your focus is on fast, effective frontline maintenance.
Your Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair day to day mechanical issues on trucks and trailers
- Conduct routine servicing and basic mechanical maintenance
- Perform tyre repairs and replacements
- Identify or follow up driver fault reports and escalte major repairs to external workshops
- Carry out general inspections and safety checks
- Support breakdown response when required
- Maintain clean, safe work areas and assist with general yard duties
- Work independently and take initiative to keep the fleet operational
About You
- Hands‑on experience with truck or heavy trailer fleet maintenance (no trade qualification required, but is preferred)
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem‑solving skills
- Ability to work unsupervised and make sound decisions
- Reliable, safety‑focused, and committed to quality workmanship
- Able to work Monday to Friday with flexibility for occasional overtime
