We have an opportunity for an experienced Grounds and Maintenance Officer to join our team at The Henry Canberra, a retirement village nestled in the picturesque suburb of Higgins in Belconnen. We are seeking an experienced individual who will thrive in a hands-on role. Your primary focus will be maintaining our village and gardens to the highest standard, ensuring a protected and pleasant environment for our residents and visitors.

Reporting to the Management Team, your duties will include a variety of maintenance and groundskeeping tasks across the village, including:

Performing general and preventative maintenance tasks in an organised and proactive manner.

Conducting repairs and maintenance to village facilities, including but not limited to painting, patching walls, repairing doors and windows, minor carpentry, troubleshooting plumbing issues, and general cleaning.

Managing lawn and grounds maintenance, including but not limited to irrigation, seeding, topdressing, fertilising, mulching, raking, sweeping, whipper snipping, trimming, weeding and spraying of pesticides/herbicides as required.





Planting and maintaining trees and gardens, including pruning for shrubs and other plants as needed.

Engaging with residents and visitors in a friendly, customer-focused manner, building positive relationships.

Completing administrative and reporting duties related to maintenance activities.

Assisting the Management Team with additional tasks as required.

To be successful in this role, you should possess:

Hands-on experience in building and grounds maintenance, with strong attention to detail.

Initiative, self-motivation, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Strong problem solving skills and a commitment to safe work practices.

Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities, with a customer-focused approach.

The ability to adapt to changing priorities and work in various weather conditions.

A valid driver's licence and proof of Australian work rights

A current National Police Check ad WWVP, or willingness to obtain.
